The thread sits much higher on the vial allowing space between the bottom of the thread and the shoulder of the vial. Clear glass vials are made of Type I, Class A 33-expansion borosilicate glass. Amber vials are made of Type I, Class B 51-expansion borosilicate glass and are ideal for light-sensitive samples.
