The chemical-resistant beads are able to maintain a constant temperature and support the sample tubes for as long as necessary. They can be autoclaved at 273F (134C). To save time, the bucket of beads can be incubated in the refrigerator overnight and inserted into the unit before use. A temperature control ensures all contents in the ice bucket are kept at an even temperature, whether cold or warm. The current temperature of the unit can be viewed on a five-digit orange LED display in either C or F.
