Pressure on the pestle grinds samples between the bottom edge of the pestle and the rounded mortar wall. Adjust the pressure of the pestle depending on your sample and the desired particle size. An adjustable scraper continuously guides material toward the grinding surface and away from the mortar walls, ensuring a homogeneously ground sample. View and add samples through two Plexiglas windows on the cover. Use the ON/OFF switch for continuous operation, or the built-in digital timer for timed operations up to 99 minutes. Longer grinding time leads to smaller final particle size. Safety features include a safety switch that shuts off the power to the grinder when the lid is open and an overload switch. To minimize sample contamination, select a grinding set that is harder than the sample to be ground. Grinding sets are available in five different materials: porcelain, corundum, agate, chrome steel, and stainless steel (SS)order separately.
